Hi,
Our friend Jim Brehio, along with our Coach Mike Lawrence as members of the Birch Hill Striders running club, started the Gardner to Baldwinville Turkey Trot 40 years ago.  the only awards were homemade pies that their wife’s and mothers baked.  The Turkey trot always finishes in front of the American Legion, were runners and walkers enjoy the warmth in the American Legion hall.
This same American Legion Post is holding a “virtual 5k” in October to raise funds to buy winter clothes and shoes for Templeton and Phillipston elementary school kids that are less fortunate or facing hardships due to lack of resources.
The American Legion post members are working with New Balance running shoes at their factory store in Lawrence Mass. Giving the post a 40—50% on close out kids shoes.  The highest price shoes are $59.99 dropping down to $39.99 and $29.99, before the discount.  Your entry fee will enable them to buy one shoe.
Have a friend sign up with you and they can buy a new pair of shoes.
Please, help them out by entering and running
the Operation: It takes a village Virtual 5K.
Attached is an entry form and more information.

Update:
It was a decision that we were all hoping would never come, but unfortunate last Week the MSTCA decided to cancel the outdoor track & field season due to the ongoing threat of the coronavirus. The decision came just a few hours after it was announced by Gov. Charlie Baker that Remote Learning would remain in effect until the end of the 2019-20 school year.
The news is heartbreaking for our GHS,GMS athletes and coaches.
Please keep up you school work online with your teachers for the 4Q Important for many obvious reasons including keeping your sports eligibility current.
Please stay safe, wash hands, 6 feet, mask and keep running and training keep fit this will pass!
For the the annual Wildcat 5k No decisions have been made yet hoping to have more info for you all by next week.
Seniors please get your scholarships into drop box at GHS lobby soon the doors are open this Friday 9am-11am.
